We are all living in uncertain times these days. It’s hard not being able to plan or be sure that something is going to happen. In the world of agriculture, we’re used to this feeling. Sometimes, the plants grow the way we hoped them to and sometimes they don’t. All we can do is do the best we can and hope it works out well.
Here at Mary’s Land Farm
we’ve had many successful festivals over the years and we want to branch out, so we are planning the 2020 Clarksville Sunflower Festival
. We know coronavirus and social distancing will cause some unique adaptations. We know the weather might not cooperate while the sunflowers are growing or on the days of the festival. This is our first time planting a huge field of sunflowers on our farm and we don’t know how well they’ll grow. But we’re going to do the best we know how to do and hope it works out well. We hope you’ll join us on the journey… virtually at first and hopefully healthy and in person by the time all the sunflowers bloom and the festival arrives. We’ll be posting frequent updates on Facebook about our preparations and we hope you’ll join us from your home.
Why plant a huge field of sunflowers? Well, as Maryland begins to reopen and many of us are beginning to step back out into the world of public activities little by little, we’re choosing what is safe and what matters. At Mary’s Land Farm
we’ve always believed that delicious, healthy food matters. We also believe that beauty matters. It makes life richer and more vibrant. The beauty of nature helps us put things in perspective. We think flowers are beautiful, and so we decided to plant some to share with you. We’ll be updating our Instagram
with beautiful things to inspire you along the way.
